He breathed his last at Lab Aid Hospital in the city around 8:30am on Saturday (Jan 18).
“Abdul Mannan died around 8.30am due to cardiac arrest,” said Professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman, in charge of the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
According to family, he was admitted to the hospital following a cardiac arrest on Thursday (Jan 16) noon. Later, he was later put on life support in the night as his condition deteriorated.

Prime Minister Sheik Hasina expressed deep sorrow at the death of Abdul Mannan, MP, and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family. She also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

A native of Hindukandi in Bogura’s Sariakandi Upazila, Mannan was thrice elected to parliament from Bogura in 2008, 2014 and 2018.

He had previously served as an organising secretary to the Awami League and was also a former president of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
