File Photo/Sazzad HossainThe High Court has ordered to initiate actions against the vice chancellor (VC) of Jashore Science and Technology University (JUST) and two others for distorting photographs of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a calendar.
In its order on Wednesday (Jan 15), the bench of justices FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader directed the Cabinet secretary to take actions by one month against the university's VC, registrar and public relations officer.
The court's decision came following a writ filed lodged by Jashore Sadar upazila vice chairman Md Anwar Hossain Bipul.
After the court ordered an investigation, a panel was formed headed by the additional secretary of the ministry of education, Belayet Hossain Talukder, as the convener. The committee later found truth in the allegations.
The committee filed a report after investigating the matter on Oct 15 which stated that the VC’s name was placed above the name of Bangabandhu, pictures of the prime minister and Bangabandhu were incorrectly bound and the images of Bangabandhu plus the PM were inappropriately cut in the calendar.
