Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two members of a counterfeiting ring in Dhaka, recovered equipment used for production and fake currency worth over Tk 10 million.
The arrest and seizure were made after a team of the elite force raid a house in the capital's Dhanmondi area on Friday (Jan 10), said Major Shahriar Ziaur Rahman, second-in-command of RAB-10.
The detainees have been identified as Saiful Islam, 30, and Shah Alam, 40.
Rahman said that the gang had been manufacturing fake banknotes at the house over the past five years.
Huge equipment used for production was seized during the raid.
RAB was trying to nab the rest of the gang, the RAB official added.
