Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured Bangladesh Police to meet the demands to grant holiday incentives for at least one month.
Sub Inspector Anwar Hossain has placed the demand of granting holiday incentives of two months before the premier during the inauguration of the Police Week 2020 at Dhaka’s Rajarbagh Police Lines on Sunday (Jan 5).
Responding to the demand, PM Hasina said, “I always mentioned the daylong duty of police, who are deprived of fixed working hours and holidays. Something should be done for the force in this regard. At least incentives for 30 holidays will be granted, as that for 60 days may not be possible.”
Constable Lucky Khatun, another member of the police, has asked for increment in different allowances, which have been fixed more than 30 years ago. She has requested to increase the allowances as per the current wage scale.
Expressing surprise over the issue, the premier said, “I have no explanation, why the matter remained unchanged after my office instructed for it.”
“We will reasonably fix the issue soon,” she assured.
On Jan 2, Bangla Tribune run a special report on deprivation of holidays and its incentives, the police members face.
