The government will not open the Malaysian labour market until recruiters charge migrants the rate fixed, says Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed.
“I will not let migrants to hide in Malaysian jungles after spending Tk 600,000 for jobs in Malaysia. We will not sign such deal,” Minister Imran said while addressing an event organised by Reporters’ for Bangladeshi Migrants at the ministry on Sunday (Jan 5).
“Pressurizing migrants for additional payment is unjust,” said the expatriate welfare minister.
Noting the crisis of trained workforce, he said, “The number of migrants has declined. However, everyone has skipped the fact that labour market across the world has changed, the countries want skilled workers.”
“We have to endure the crisis unless we serve the countries with skilled human resource,” Imran said before assuring the government has initiated projects to meet the crisis.
