‘New Year celebrated peacefully’

“We had asked the citizens to celebrate New Year in keeping with the country’s culture. So far there have been no violation of that,” Dhaka Metropolitan Police chief Shafiqul Islam said while briefing the media at Gulshan-2 on early on Wednesday (Jan 1).

Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion chief Benazir Ahmed said that visits to Dhaka University campus, TSC and other parts of the capital showed that everyone celebrated peacefully.
