An alleged drug dealer was killed in a ‘shootout’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Basila Garden City area of Mohammadpur in the capital early Monday, RAB sources said.
The victim was identified as Rajon, 25, wanted in 15 cases in different police stations.
Based on information, a team of RAB raided the area around 1:15am, said Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of RAB-2 Robiul Islam.
Sensing presence of the elite force, the ‘drug peddlers’ opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back for self-defence, triggering a gunfight, he added.
RAB found the bullet-hit body of Rajon and took to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was declared by the doctors.
The team also recovered arms, bullets and cannabis from the scene.
