ACC seeks Australia’s help to bring back laundered money

Anti Corruption Commission held a meeting with the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity and the country`s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Abu Dhabi on Thursday (Dec 19)The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought assistance from two Australian government agencies to bring back money siphoned off out of the country.
ACC chief Iqbal Mahmood made the request at a meeting with the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity and the country's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Abu Dhabi on Thursday (Dec 19).
“We have information about some Bangladeshis, who have invested in real estates and other businesses in Australia after fleeing the country with illegal wealth. Australian government's assistance is necessary to extradite the suspects as well as bring back the laundered money,” the ACC chief told the Australian officials.
“Bangladesh has sought information from different states on graft suspects under Mutual Legal Assistance Request. The information can expedite the prosecution of suspects,” he said.
