The Appellate Division has rejected the bail pleas of two top Destiny officials in an embezzlement case.
A full bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Tuesday (Dec 17).
The bench also ordered the trial court to settle the case as soon as possible.
In 2012, the graft watchdog Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed two cases against 22 officials of Destiny Group, including Managing Director Rafiqul Amin and Destiny-2000 Ltd Chairman Mohammad Hossain.
The duo is currently serving time in a money laundering case.
Destiny Group amassed Tk 28.62 million in investments from clients for its so-called ‘Destiny Multi-purpose Cooperative’ and ‘Tree Plantation Project' and reportedly laundered the money.
The court had slapped the condition of returning the clients their money for bail.
Later, in 2017, they moved the top court against the order.
