HC rules on censor, screening of ‘No Dorai’

Poster of `No Dorai`The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking why the authorities concerned to explain why the censor certificate of the film ‘No Dorai’ should not be revoked and its screenings should not be halted.
In the same ruling, HC also asked why the comic book titled the same, should not be withdrawn from market.
An HC bench comprising Justice M. Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman has passed the order on Tuesday (Dec 10) after a primary hearing of a writ filed by a Supreme Court lawyer, Md Huzzatul Islam.
Secretaries to the information and the law ministries, producer of the film Mahbub Rahman, director Tanim Rahman Angshu and screenwriter Shyamol Sengupta have been asked respond to the rule by four weeks.
None of the lead production members could not be reached for comments.
On Dec 4, Huzzatul issued a legal notice against ‘No Dorai’ raising allegations of hurting religious sentiments.
Released on Nov 29, Bangladesh’s first-ever surfing film ‘No Dorai’ is also the first production of Star Cineplex. Sunerah Binte Kamal played the protagonist named ‘Aysha’.
