Official dengue death toll updated to 133

BANGLA TRIBUNEThe government has confirmed another four deaths from dengue fever, bringing the total number of fatalities to 133 so far this year in the country.
According to a report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued on Monday (Dec 9), the deaths included two in April, six in June, 35 in July, 71 in August, 12 in September, three in November, four in December.
As many as 264 cases were reported from hospitals to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
After reviewing the 211 cases, the IERDCR confirmed 133 deaths occurred due to dengue, the DGHS's Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room said on Monday.
The DGHS said that as many as 67 new dengue patients have been hospitalized across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday.
Of them, 37 are receiving treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka while another 30 are outside the capital.
As many as 301 dengue patients, currently, are undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country including 109 being treated at different hospitals in the capital.
In the first eight days of December, 635 more dengue cases were recorded after 4,011 in November, 16,856 in September and 52,636 in August, which were more than the total number of patients in any past year.
The reported dengue cases have reached 100,742 so far this year, according to DGHS.
