Two moving buses in Dhaka have caught fire in separate incidents on Saturday (Dec 7), says the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Reports of fire at a bus operated by 'Trust Paribahan' at the capital's Karwan Bazar came in around 3pm, Fire Service Control Room's Officer Lima Khanam told Bangla Tribune.
An hour later, a double-decker bus of the state-run Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) caught fire in front of the Kurmitola General Hospital on the Airport Road around 4pm, she said.
It took three fire-firefighting units nearly an hour put out the flames at the bus in Karwan Bazar while after two units were dispatched to douse the BRTC bus fire on the Airport Road, according to Khanam.
No causalities were reported, she said before adding it was not yet clear how the buses caught fire.
Dhaka Cantonment police OC Kazi Shan Haque said overheating caused the BRTC bus' engine to catch the fire.
Its driver, however, managed to evacuate the passengers before the incident, he added.
