Language Movement veteran Rawshan Ara BachchuLanguage Movement veteran Rawshan Ara Bachchu has died at 87.
Rawshan Ara breathed her last around 3am on Tuesday (Dec 4) while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka, said daughter Tahmida Bachchu.
She was one of the valiant women who played an active role in the Language Movement of 1952.
The mortal remains of Rawshan Ara would be taken to the Bangla Academy on Tuesday afternoon to pay the last respects to her.
Later, the body will be taken to her residence at the capital's West Manipur before she will be buried in her village in the north-eastern district of Moulvibazar's Kulaura Upazila following the funeral prayers.
Born on Dec 17, 1932, in Kulaura, Rawshan Ara joined the politics of Democratic Progressive Front after her admission to Dhaka University.
Rawshan Ara played an active role of an organiser to hold a women' procession in Dhaka University's Amtala are defying a ban on rallies on Feb 21, 1952.
A philosophy graduate, Rawshan Ara thought at several prominent schools in Dhaka including Azimpur Girls' School and Nazrul Academy.
