File photo of Chief Justice Syed Mahmud HossainChief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has expressed dismay over the inability to prevent irregularities at the affidavit section of the supreme court despite placing CCTV cameras.

The chief justice made the comment on Monday (Dec 2), during a case hearing. At that time, attorney general Mahbubey Alam was present at court.

During the hearing, Alam, told the court: “a case was supposed to be number three in serial but has mysteriously gone to number 89.”

He wanted to know how it had gone to number 89. At this point, the chief justice said: “we placed CCT cameras but everyone does the affidavit coming out of the room.”

Many have become wealthy changing the position of cases on the list, lamented the attorney general.

Many state lawyers do not come to court because they are paid high salaries, if they were paid less they would have come on time, said the chief justice.

The chief justice summoned the deputy registrar Mehedi Hassan and expressed displeasure at the latter’s explanation and ordered him to do his duty properly.
