HC moved seeking directive against unguarded rail crossings

 Supreme court lawyer, Ekhlas Uddin Bhuiyan, lodged the writ which makes cabinet secretary, roads and highways secretary, DG of railway and police IGP the defendants.

The writ appeal says that last year, 244 persons died in 235 accidents and 228 persons were wounded; on Jul 15, 2019, 10 persons, including a bride and groom, were killed and others injured in rail crossing accidents.

As per August 2018, the database of Bangladesh Railways, 496 level crossings are unguarded of the 1242 rail crossings.

Every day, many people are at risk of being killed but despite so many deaths, the authority is not taking any necessary measures.
