Drone seized from US citizen at Hazrat Shahjalal International AirportCustoms Intelligence has seized a ‘highly advanced’ drone from a US citizen at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The 22-year-old US citizen, Mark Rumam Kutrovsky, was on his way back to the United States, and his flight was scheduled to leave around 1 pm on Monday.
The customs officials seized the drone from Kutrovsky while he was waiting at the boarding lounge.
Customs Intelligence Investigation Directorate (CIID) Director General (DG) Moinul Khan confirmed the matter and said Kutrovsky arrived in Bangladesh on Friday.
Moinul said, “The drone is highly advanced, and equipped with one camera and eight sensors.”
During the primary interrogation, Kutrovsky told the customs officials that the device was used to capture still images and videos of the countryside.
The drone’s memory card is being examined, Moinul Khan further said, “Drones are import-controlled products and Kutrovsky’s one was seized due to lack of authorization, keeping state security in mind.”
Even though the drone was seized, it is yet not confirmed whether any action has been taken against the passenger.
