A court in Dhaka has sent Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Bazlur Rashid to jail in a case filed over amassing assets worth Tk 30.8 million illegally.
Dhaka Acting Senior special Judge Al Manum passed the order after the Anti-Corruption Commission moved the court on Sunday (Oct 20).
Earlier in the day, the graft watchdog arrested the DIG after interrogating him and his wife Razzaqun Nahar at its headquarters in the capital’s Segunbagicha.
The ACC interrogated the couple over transaction of the money taken as bribes through courier services, and filed a case against Bazlur Rashid, ACC Deputy Director Pronob Kumar Bhattchariya told the media after quizzing.
