A student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has been allegedly beaten to death.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Abrar Fahad, a second-year student  of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department.

His body was found at the staircase between the ground and first floors of the Sher-E-Bangla Residential Hall around 3am on Monday (Oct 7), said BUET Medical Officer Md Mashuk Elahi .

"I rushed to the scene after students informed me over phone and found him dead. There were several marks of injury on the body," he said. 
Later, students and hall authorities took the body to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Lalbagh Zone) Kamal Hossain said that an initial investigation has been launced and that details will be available later.
