Move to cut off power lines triggers clash at Dhaka's Geneva Camp

Bihari residents in Geneva Camp in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area have clashed with supporters of a local councillor, centring the government's decision to cut off power lines within the camp.
The clashes, which took place intermittently near Mostakim Kebab Restaurant on Saturday when the authorities attempted to disconnect power services with the camp.
Locals said both of the parties blocked the road by setting tyres and other objects on fire while police lobbed tear gas shells to disperse them.
Duty officer of Mohammadpur police SI Rakibul Alam said police have lobbed tear shell canisters to bring the situation under control.
No casualty was reported, he added.
