A general view of Anti-Corruption Commission head office in Dhaka’s Segunbagicha. SAZZAD HOSSAIN/File PhotoAs much as 93 percent of the complaints at the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) are not investigable.
Recent statistics showed that in the last four years 63,045 complaints were lodged with the graft watchdog amongst which it decided to investigate only 4,408 cases, ACC chief Iqbal Mahmood told Bangla Tribune.
According to ACC the cases that have not been accepted for investigation have been documented or referred to the concerned ministry of division for resolution as they do not fall under the commission’s laws.
“There is no scope to work with cases that are not under the ACC laws,” said Iqbal Mahmood and called on people to lodge complaints that do fall under the laws.
He added that those who call the toll-free hotline (106) are given relevant information.
