Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will start eviction drive to free footpaths from Friday (Sept 20), Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said.
Atiqul made the announced while unveiling the nameplate of Shaheed Zayan Chowdhury Playground at Banani’s Chairmanbari on Saturday (Sept 14), according to a media report.
Atiqul said: “The drive against illegal encroachment on the footpaths will start from Sept 20. The footpaths will be freed for pedestrians to walk on.
“I spoke to the prime minister about this matter. She welcomed this initiative,” he added.
Awami League Presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and ward commissioners of DNCC were present during the announcement.
