Light to moderate rain likely across Bangladesh

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the country,” says the latest forecast by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, according to it.
Meanwhile, maritime ports have been advised to hoist Cautionary Signal No 3.
Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports and adjoining coastal areas as steep pressure gradient lies over the North Bay, the Met office said in a bulletin on Thursday (Sept 12).
Fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, the bulletin added.
