The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has opened an inquiry over the gross irregularities in prices during the procurement of medical books.

A three-member committee headed by Additional Director General HM Enayet Hossain was formed of Sunday (Sept 1), confirmed DGHS chief Abul Kalam Azad.

“The probe committee has been asked to submit the report within 15 working days,” he said.

DGHS Management Information Service division’s Director Samir Kanti Sarker and Deputy Director KM Tarique will also sit on the committee.

The committee was formed following a Bangla Tribune report titled ‘Govt medical book purchase marred by irregularities.’

The report said that the DGHS was paying around double to 15 times the market price for the books purchased for the medical colleges across the country.
