A woman died of dengue at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Friday (Aug 30).
The deceased is Munni Begum, 52, wife of Md Ali Ashraf, from Kholamora village in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka.
Munni's son Md Imran Hossain said his mother was admitted to DMCH on Wednesday after they found out she was suffering from dengue.
In-charge of DMCH police outpost Md Bacchu Mia said they have handed over Munni's body to her family.
Dengue menace
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) the number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals, combined, is 5,222.
A total of 52 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till August 28, according to their own collected data. However, so far, the unofficial death toll has been reported to be 124 – including Friday's death.
Since Jan 1 till Aug 28, a total of 67,221 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 61,826 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
