Titas Ghosh. FILE PHOTO/CollectedThe High Court has ordered the public administration ministry to submit the probe report over the death of Titas Ghosh caused by the delay at the ferry that was waiting for a joint secretary at Madaripur’s Kathalbari.
The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader gave the order on Wednesday (Aug 28) after the hearing of a petition.
On Jul 31, the HC formed a two-member committee comprising of a joint secretary and deputy secretary to probe the incident.
The court also issued a rule asking why compensation shouldn’t be ordered for the victim’s family.
On Jul 25 night, the ferry was delayed for three hours while waiting for government’s A2I project joint secretary, Abdus Sabur.
During the wait, the condition of Titas, a school student who was in an ambulance with severe injuries deteriorated and he later died on the way to the hospital.
A petition was filed with the high court on Jul 30 seeking a directive to take legal action against the joint secretary and ferry manager.
It also sought a compensation of Tk 30 million to be paid to his family as compensation and a court order giving priority to ambulance movement at all ferry ports.
