Dhaka South City Corporation has sent two persons to jail and fined two house owners Tk 60,000 during anti-mosquito drives.
DSCC fined the house owners as three mobile courts were conducted at 206 houses in Dhaka on Monday (Aug 26), said a media release issued by the Public Relations Office of DSCC.
According to the release, city corporation officials fined the owners of two houses for finding presence of Aedes larvae there and sent two others to prison during the drives.
Six more house owners were issued warnings on finding conducive environment for the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.
A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Jahid Hasan inspected 25 houses and destroyed Aedes larvae at three of them.
A second mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahman inspected 47 houses at Central Road area under Kalabagan police station. The court fined the owner of one house at Hazaribagh Tk 10,000 and sent two persons to prison for three days.
A third court led by Executive Magistrate Babar Ali inspected 47 houses. Hotel Tsunami in Jhigatola was fined Tk 50,000 for its dirty and unclean environment.
A fourth court led by Executive Magistrate Udayan Dewan inspected 27 houses in Alu Bazar area and warned off six house owners.
A fifth court led by Executive Magistrates Irfan Uddin and Moniruzzaman inspected 60 houses in Gandaria area and warned off six house owners. The court also conducted cleanliness drives and destroyed Aedes larvae at the Secretariat and Motijheel Postal Officers’ Quarters.
