The government has issued directives to thana, upazila and district education officers to ensure that no other educational institutions are set up near government primary schools.
The directive has been issued through a notice signed by Directorate of Primary Education Director (Policy and operation) Khan Md Nurul Amin on Tuesday (Aug 20).
The directive has been issued following a recommendation made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Primary and Mass Education Ministry in this regard on Jul 24.
Concerns have been raised on many occasions against the setting up of primary schools and equivalent educational institutions, kindergarten schools and coaching centres near government primary schools.
These educational institutions that depend on the government primary schools to garner names for themselves are known for not following government curriculum and burdening children with unnecessary books.
