DMP issues traffic advisory for National Mourning Day

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued traffic guidelines for Dhaka ahead of the National Mourning Day to be observed across the country on Aug 15 (Thursday ).
Vehicular movements will be restricted on roads leading to Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road 32 from dusk to dawn on Thursday, according to the guidelines posted on the website of DMP's south division, according to media reports.
On the National Mourning Day, the president, the prime minister, cabinet members, and people from all walks of life will pay homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Vehicles from Gabtoli to Russell Square-Azimpur areas will be diverted to Dhanmondi 27 and go to their respective destinations through Shankar-Jigatola-Science Lab intersection.
Russell Square-bound vehicles from New Market and Science Lab will be diverted to the Jigatola-Shankar route.
Russell Square-bound vehicles from Rainbow FDC will be diverted to the Sonargaon Crossing-Bangla Motor-Shahbag route.
People coming to pay respects at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum via Manik Mia Avenue-Dhanmondi 27 must go through the road next to Metro Shopping Mall and make a left turn in front of Ahsania Mission to reach Dhanmondi 32.
Vehicles carrying the national flag, and other vehicles belonging to the Army and Police Chief will be parked on Dhanmondi road 11.
Besides, vehicles of political leaders, including MPs, will be parked on the east and west sides of Dhanmondi 32 Bridge.
Awami League, the ruling party, has chalked out elaborate programs for the 44th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation and the National Mourning Day on Thursday.
