A child has died of the mosquito-borne dengue fever at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Hospital records said that the ten-year old child died of the fever on early Friday (Aug 9), raising the death toll in the fever at DMCH to 22.

Rifat, resident of Jamalpur, was admitted to the hospital with high fever on Thursday (Aug 8) evening and died of it around 12:30am on Friday.

According the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the Health Directorate, a total of 34,666 patients have died of the fever since January this year while an estimated 8,765 patients were being treated for the fever at state-run and private hospitals across the country.
