A female police officer died of mosquito-borne viral disease dengue while being treated at a Dhaka hospital.

Kohinur Akhter, a sub-inspector with the Special Branch (SB), died around 1am on Wednesday (Jul 31), said Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital Director Hasanul Haidar.

“Kohinur was suffering from fever for several days. She initially got herself admitted to the Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital on Jul 28 and was shifted to the City Hospital in Mohammadpur the next day,” said Haidar.

“She died while being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital,” he added.
