Four officials of IBN Sina Hospital have been sued over allegations of fraud regarding dengue tests.
Dhaka Bar lawyer Ramjan Ali Sarker moved the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Didar Hossain to file a case over the matter on Tuesday (Jul 30).
The court then ordered the Dhanmondi police OC to probe the allegations.
Three of the accused whose names are still unknown are IBN Sina Hospital chairman, IBN Sina Group Chairman, IBN Sina Diagonstic and Imaging Centre managing director.
The other accused is consultant (hematologist) Prof Col (retd) Moniruzzaman.
The plaintiff’s counsel Tanvir Ahmed Sajib sought an arrest order against the accused.
According to the case documents, Ramjan Ali went too IBN Sina with a fever on Jul 25 and was recommended the NS-1, AG and CBC blood tests.
On Jul 26, his reports showed a platelet count of 784,000 cmm which is usually 150,000 to 450,000 in a healthy individual.
Alarmed, he got the same tests done at Bangladesh Medical Hospital where the reports showed a platelet count of 200,000 cmm.
The document read that the platelet count of 780,000 cmm is an impossibility and issuing fake reports amidst the sensitive dengue situation for illegal monetary gain was a crime.
