On a series of irregularities, including giving reports without tests, usage of expired agents and selling medicines at inflated prices, three hospitals have been fined Tk 4.2 million by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile courts.
The mobile court was carried out at the capital’s Uttara area on Monday (Jul 29) from 1:30pm till 10:40pm with the support of the Health Directorate and medicine administration departments.
Executive magistrate of RAB, Sarwar Alam, said: “There were complaints against these hospitals; Crescent Hospital in Uttara was fined Tk 1.7 million, Lubna Hospital Tk 2 million and RMC Hospital Tk 500,000.”
Alam said: “Crescent Hospital used to give culture report without any tests; labs used expired agents and sold Indian surgical instruments and unauthorized medicines.”
“Lubna Hospital used expired agents, gave reports without tests and used expired instruments for surgery, sold Pathedine at inflated rates and RMC Hospital also used expired instruments, took excess money from patients for tests which they did outside the hospital, charged more fees for Dengue tests and sold unauthorized medicines."
