At least two people have been injured in an air-conditioner explosion in Dhaka.
The incident was reported from an eatery in Shanir Akhra area of the capital’s Jatrabari around 11am on Saturday (Jul 20).
The injured have been identified as Saiful Islam, 22, and Md Imran, 20. They were employees at the eatery.
"They were injured in the explosion, and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) burn unit for treatment," said Jatrabari police Sub-Inspector (SI) Azmat Ali.
Residential surgeon of DMCH's burn unit, Partha Sankar Pal, said: "Both of them were in danger when they were brought to the hospital.
Saiful suffered 30% while 70% of Imran's body burned in the explosion."
Meanwhile, one of the injured, Imran said there was a burning smell when they opened the shop in the morning.
Within a few minutes he heard a blast, and lost consciousness, he added.
