Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has cancelled leaves of it officials in an attempt to control the recent surge of dengue and chikungunya in the city.
"Officials of the health and waste management department will have no vacation," DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said after a Dengue Awareness rally held at Manik Mia Avenue on Friday (Jul 19) morning.
"Our employees will continue work to kill mosquitoes to prevent dengue," he said.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal also attended the rally program.
"The preventive measure and activity will continue," the minister said.
"Everything we need to do to prevent dengue and chikungunya is being done," he furthered.
It is possible to overcome this if the origin of the Aedes mosquitoes can be destroyed, the minister added.
