Jung Yung Fang, who worked at the 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant, was declared dead on around 3 am by doctors at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), said Barsihal Divisional Commissioner Ram Chandra Das.

“On the afternoon of Tuesday, a Bangladeshi worker named Sabindra Das was killed in a accident following which agitated local workers attacked Chinese workers and officials, when six Chinese and two Bangladeshis were injured,” he said.

The victims were taken to the Patuakhali Medical College Hospital before being transferred to Barishal around 2am on Wednesday, said Das.

Chinese citizen Jung Yung Fang succumbed to his head injuries around 3.15am, said Md Bakir Hossain, a physician at the SBMCH.

 “He died of profuse bleeding while being treated at the ICU. The rest five Chinese citizens have been sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment,” he told Bangla Tribune.

The body of the deceased Chinese national was handed over to the Thermal Power Plant Project’s manager Lieu Xi, which has been transported to Dhaka.
