Court orders Hall-Mark Chairman Jasmine to surrender

The Supreme Court has scrapped bail for Hall-Mark Group Chairman Jasmine Islam on charges of embezzling funds to through forged letters of credit (LCs) and ordered her to surrender to the trial court within four weeks.

On Sunday (Jun 16), the Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain gave the order after dismissing bail granted by the High Court.

“The High Court had granted bail to Jasmine in March in a case which accuses her of embezzling Tk 858.73 million from the state-owned Janata Bank through forged LCs. The ACC moved the Appellate Division against it and on Sunday her bail was scrapped,” ACC counsel Khurshid Alam Khan told the media after the hearing.
