Airport Armed Police presents two Rohingyas before media, arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday, Jun 12, 2019.Airport Armed Police has arrested two Rohingyas with 9,000 yaba tablets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The arrest were made around 9pm on Wednesday (Jun 12), said police.
The arrestees have been identified as Myanmar citizens 46-year-old Nazrul Islam and 22-year-old Mohammad Zobayer who had illegally obtained Bangladeshi citizenship and national identification cards, said Alamgir Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops and Media) of Airport Armed Police.
Airport sources said that Nazrul Islam and Mohammad Zubair were suspiciously roaming outside the airport's internal terminal. Members of Airport Armed Police followed their suspicious movements. The police received confusing and suspicious information from them while speaking to the duo, and later, both of them were searched and interrogated in the custody of the Armed Police.
Both of them admitted that they had yaba pills in their stomachs. They had swallowed about 9,000 yaba tablets wrapped in black tape.
“A case has been filed against both of them under drug control laws at the Airport Police station,” said Alamgir Hossain.
