Dhaka Metropolitan Police have taken extensive security measures surrounding the National Eidgah area.
“Devotees will be searched three times before they can enter National Eidgah,” Dhaka Mahanagar Police Commissioner (DMP) Md Assaduzzaman Miah told the media after inspecting the National Eidgah ground on Monday (Jun 3).
The DMP chief said, “Eidgah and Baytul Mokarram are ready. All arrangements have been made for Eid jamaat.
“The Eidgah field has been scanned. Arches have been set up. The entire area is under CCTV surveillance.
“CCTV cameras will be monitored from the DMP control room,” he said.
Assaduzzaman said, “There will be checkpoints at every corner. At the first checkpoint, police will search everyone physically.
“At the second step, metal detectors are installed, and at the third phase, devotees must enter through the arches in front of the Eidgah field. Worshippers can only bring jainamaz, and umbrellas if it rains, to the Eidgah field.
“No cars will be able to enter through the check posts. Cars will have to be parked at the designated area,” he said.
