File photo shows Attorney General Mahbubey Alam addressing the media on Nov 22, 201 at his city residence. The state will move the High Court against the petition filed by ex-Sonagazi Police Station OC Moazzem Hossain seeking anticipatory bail.
“My office is fully prepared to oppose it in court and it will be dealt with strong hand,” Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told the media on Thursday (May 30).
The state’s top legal officer’s remarks come a day after the suspended police officer moved the court after a warrant was out for his arrest in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for filming and circulating a video statement of slain Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
“Police pressed charges against as many as 16 people over the murder… Allegation of filming a video statement has been found against a police officer [ex-OC Moazzem], which is an offence,” said the AG.
File photo shows former OC of Sonagazi police Moazzem HossainAlam said that Nusrat’s family has called to name the OC as a prime suspect in the murder case, which is a concern of the investigating officer not his office’s.
“We will try our level best block the bail,” he said.
The HC bench of justice Md Habibul Gani may hear Moazzem’s bail plea any day between Jun 11 and 13, informed the AG.
