File PhotoThree Bangladeshis who survived a boat capsize at the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia, returnedto the country.

A Turkish Airlines flight carrying the survivors reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday (May 24) morning, said airport immigration sources.

The survivors who returned are Mahfuz Ahmed, Billal Ahmed and Bahadur.

A top official of Expatriate Welfare Desk at the airport said that the returnees are being interrogated at the immigration by Detective Branch officials.

The disaster struck after at least 75 migrants had set sail for Italy on a large boat from the conflict-ridden Libya on the night of May 9 before being transferred to a smaller one.

The overcrowded vessel subsequently sank in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia on May 10, killing at least 65 people.

According to Red Crescent, 37 Bangladeshis out of the 51 in the boat lost their lives amongst which 27 have been identified.
