Around 50 percent of transport workers in Bangladesh suffer from eyesight problems, according to a recent study.
BRAC, in partnership with Junior Chamber International (JCI), conducted tests on 1,200 transport workers at an eye camp. Of them, over 700 were drivers and helpers.
The findings of the study were published at a discussion in Dhaka on Sunday (May 12), co-organised by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), BRAC and JCI.
The study said some 94 percent of the workers, who are suffering from eyesight issues, were aware of their condition.
