Water transports may resume Sunday

Stormy wind is still prevailing although cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ has weakened, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority Joint Director AKM Arif Uddin told UNB.
“So, using the water routes will not be safe today. Operations might resume tomorrow from 6am,” he was quoted by the news agency.
Water transports countrywide were suspended last Thursday in advent of the very severe cyclonic storm Fani. It was causing rough tides on rivers and seas.
But the worst has passed and currently, the cyclone has reduced down to a depression and causing rainfall. It has passed north, away from Dhaka.
Maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower danger signal number seven but instead hoist local cautionary signal number three.
The Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar ports have also been advised to lower danger signal number six and four but instead hoist local cautionary signal number three.
