Truck driver held over BRACU student’s death

The driver, whose identity is yet to be released, was arrested during a raid outside Dhaka on Saturday (Apr 27), Deputy Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarkar of Dhaka metro police’s Tejgaon Division.
He said details will be provided to the media on Sunday.
The 21-year-old was killed on Thursday after a truck rammed the motorcycle she was riding in front of the Shaheed Suhrwardy Medical College Hospital in the capital’s Shyamoli.
The Computer Science and Engineering student was headed to her university using a ride sharing service.
She was injured after being flung from the motorcycle when a truck hit from behind. She was rushed her to the Suhrwardy Hospital in a critical state, where doctors on duty declared her dead.
