File photoAlmost 18 million people are at risk of catching malaria, said National Malaria Elimination and Aedes Transmitted Disease Control Programme Deputy Program Manager Dr MM Akhtaruzzaman.
“Out of the 64 districts in the country, 13 are most risky,” he said on Thursday (Apr 25) during a program for World Malaria Day.
Health Minister Zahid Malik who was also present at the program said that in 2008, a total of 154 people were affected by malaria and the number has come down to seven by 2018.
He added that in order to continue successful elimination of malaria destroying mosquito habitats where mosquitoes breed was imperative in addition to treating malaria patients.
The minister said that the organisations related to the malaria program and all the stakeholders must work together to reach the sustainable development goals by 2030.
