The Twittersphere was quick to rant on Julian Assange’s appearance — after he was dragged out of the Ecuador embassy on Thursday (Apr 11) sporting a shaggy, near-white beard and matching hair.

NY Post published a story just to address the somewhat lengthy, white and haphazard issue.

The comparisons to legendary american talk show host David Letterman’s nearly identical choice of post-retirement facial hair were almost instant.

“When Julian Assange’s asylum beard and David Letterman’s retirement beard see each other,” one twitterati quipped with a meme of two Spidermans pointing at each other.

“He looks the love child of Bill maher, Bill Murray and David letterman’s beard,” another person noted.

Someone else wrote, “With that flowing grey beard Julian Assange was clearly going for the Moses returning from Mount Sinai look before being bundled into the police van #WikiLeaks.”
