Six rescued after being trapped in SC building lift

A lift at the Supreme Court building malfunctioned on Wednesday (Apr 10) leaving six people inside trapped for nearly for 40 minutes.
The fire service was called in, but the building staff managed to rescue them before the fire fighters arrived at the scene.
Witnesses said one of the lifts at the Supreme Court’s Annex Building stopped between the ground and first floors around 2.30pm.
“One of those trapped inside the lift, Section Officer Kismat, called me on my phone, when I called the 999 emergency services and rushed to the scene,” Md Yaseen Sheikh, who works as an assistant to a lawyer, told Bangla Tribune.
The building staff managed to bring out the six after nearly 40 minutes, he said before adding, “The fire service reached after 3pm.”
Fire Service said they rushed to the scene as soon as it was reported.
“However, the fire fighters found that the building staff managed to rescue those trapped in the lift,” Siddiqbazar Fire Service unit’s Station Officer Mizanur Rahman told Bangla Tribune.
