Firefighter Sohel Rana, who sustained serious injuries during Banani FR Tower fire rescue operation and was undergoing treatment in critical condition at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, has been taken to Singapore for treatment.
An air ambulance carrying Sohel Rana took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:48pm, said Devashish Bardhan, deputy director (Dhaka Division) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
“As directed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he was taken to Singapore for better treatment. Senior Station Officer Rayhan Ul Ashraf of Fire Service will be accompanying him during his treatment,” he said.
Rana will be treated at Singapore General Hospital, he added. He sustained serious injuries on Mar 28 while rescuing people from the Banani’s FR Tower fire that claimed 26 lives and left many injured.
