The conductor and the helper of Suprobhat Paribahan bus that killed Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury on Mar 19 have given confessional statements in the case filed over the incident, reports BSS.
Bus Conductor Yasin Arafat and Helper Ibrahim made the statements under section 164 before the courts of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury and Sorafujjaman Ansari respectively. After recording the statements, the court sent the duo to jail.
On Mar 28, driver Sirajul Islam gave statement under section 164 before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury.
Police arrested Arafat from Shahrasti in Chandpur on Mar 26 and Ibrahim from Middle Badda area in the capital on Mar 27.
On Mar 20, another court put driver Sirajul Islam, 24, on seven days remand. Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus in the morning of Mar 19, as he was trying to cross the road.
It was learned later that the same bus earlier on that morning had struck another pedestrian, leaving her seriously injured and crushed Abrar as it was trying to flee the scene after the first incident.
Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the driver, his helper, conductor and owner of the bus with teh Gulshan Police Station.
