Nearly 15,000 students were absent on the first day of Higher Secondary Certificates (HSC) an equivalent examinations on Monday (Apr 1).
A total of 14,988 examinees were absent while 27 others were expelled, says a statement by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Subcommittee.
Over 1.35 million students registered to sit for this year’s tests — 664,000 male and 687,000 female.
Students from 9,081 educational institutions are taking part in the examinations at 2,757 exam canters.
According to the media statement, 3,040 students were absent in Dhaka Education Board while 1,446 in Rajshahi Education Board, 851 in Cumilla Education Board, 1,156 in Jashore Education Board, 983 in Chittagong Education Board, 719 in Sylhet Education Board, 803 in Barishal Education Board and 1,162 in Dinajpur Education Board.
Under Madrasa Education Board, 2,614 students didn’t take part in the Monday’s examination while 2,214 students were absent from Technical Education Board.
One student each was expelled in Dhaka, Cumilla, Jashore and Chattogram while one student from Madrasa Education Board and 22 from Technical Education Board have been expelled.
No students were expelled in Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barishal and Dinajpur education boards.
