A court in Dhaka adjourned till Apr 18 the hearing in the case lodged over the murder of Italian national Cesare Tavella in 2015.
Dhaka metropolitan session judge Imrul Qayes set the date as the defence cross examined witness Dr Shafikul Islam of United Hospital and failed to conclude on Monday (Apr 1), reports state news agency BSS.
Tavella, 50, then project manager of Profitable Opportunities for Food Security (Proofs), a project of Netherlands-based organization ICCO Cooperation, was gunned down by unidentified assailants on the footpath of road number 90 in Gulshan-2 on Sept 28, 2015.
A court in Dhaka on Oct 25, 2016, framed charges against BNP leader MA Qaium, his brother MA Matin and five others.
According to police, Qaium ordered the killing and his brother Matin hatched the plot. The other five accused are Tamjid Ahmed alias Rubel, Russel Chowdhury, Minhajul Arefin alias Bhaigna Russel, Sakhawat Hossain and Bhangari Sohel.
Of the accused, all but Qaium and Sohel are now behind bars.
